Tamar Abell MA, CCC-SLP, LNHA
Tamar Abell is a third-generation owner-operator of senior care facilities. After initial experience as a language rehab aide and in several other roles, she served as the administrator for two skilled nursing facilities, increasing occupancy from 50% to 100% and achieving finding-free state surveys.
As Vice-President of ABS Management, she was responsible for oversight and implementation of a Corporate Integrity Agreement with the OIG for several Illinois facilities. Her duties included quality assurance programs, regulatory and compliance issues, development of policy and procedures, coordination of continuing education programs and liaison with the state Department of Health and federal monitors.
Tamar is a recognized leader in nursing home compliance and quality improvement. She has recently been featured in a CMS surveyor webcast, and has delivered invited presentations before the American Health Lawyers Association, the Healthcare Compliance Association, and the National Council of Insurance Brokers. She was a participant in a 2007 OIG Government-Industry Roundtable and is a member of the Long-Term Care Consortium.

Ben Klein, MBA, LNHA
Ben Klein entered the long-term care industry more than fifteen years ago, when he was given direct responsibility for the operation of three Illinois facilities, totaling 450 beds. Four years later, Ben and a group of partners purchased a long term care pharmacy and expanded it into a skilled LTC facility. In each instance, Ben implemented a variety of cost-effective measures, especially in training, that improved the performance of staff as well as the facility.
In early 2001, Ben and his partners formed Platinum Health Care, LLC, with the purpose of buying and leasing long term care facilities. Since then, Ben has successfully owned and managed multiple facilities totaling more than 1000 beds, expanded his experience into pediatric long term care, and branched into facilities across the Midwest.
Ben is very active and on the board of directors for the Illinois Council of Long Term Care. In addition, Ben is a board member of Assurecare, a captive insurer for the long term care industry, and is Chairman of the Finance Committee for the insurance company.
His hands-on management experience has guided Upstairs Solutions to be an industry leader--a passion that he shares with his partners and their experienced staff.
